What this site collects, why, and what you can do about it. Last updated 2 October 2026.

Who is responsible

Bets & Ships is run by me, Chris Direduryan, as an individual based in Istanbul, Turkey. It is not a company. I decide what personal data the site collects and what it is used for, which makes me responsible for it (the “data controller”). For anything on this page, email me.

What is collected, and why

When you sign up

The newsletter, the report and the waitlist forms collect your email address. The waitlist forms also ask a few questions, such as where you are in your career or the size of your company, plus an optional free-text answer, and record that you agreed to be emailed. I use this only to send you what you signed up for and to understand who it is for. The legal basis is your consent. Your details are never sold, and never shared beyond the services listed below.

Analytics, only if you accept cookies

If you accept cookies, Google Analytics counts visits: pages viewed, a rough location, the type of device, and where you came from, including whether you clicked an ad. Nothing is loaded until you choose, and you can change your choice at any time under Cookies at the bottom of every page.

When you book a call

Bookings are made on Cal.com, which collects your name, email and the time you pick, under its own privacy policy.

Kept in your browser only

Your theme, your progress through the learning paths and your cookie choice are stored in your own browser. They are never sent to me or anyone else.

Videos

Videos use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode and load only when you press play.

Who processes it

These services are based in the United States, so your data is transferred outside Turkey and the European Union.

How long it is kept

Sign-up details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete them. Analytics data is kept for no longer than 14 months.

Your rights

You can ask to see the data I hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority: in Turkey, the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK); in the European Union, the authority in your country.

Children

This site is not meant for anyone under 16, and I do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it.
